Gamers’ Paradise

We all like to go on our holidays for that 2 weeks every year, catching a tan and stuffing our faces with the all-you-can-eat buffet. But what if you’re bored of all that paradise and fancied a change of scene? Here are a few alternatives as we delve in into the gamers’ perfect holiday guide.

Adventure holiday: Banoi island from Dead Island

Why not try the lovely isle of Banoi from the aptly named Dead Island, where the locals are extremely eager to meet you. It’s an adventure holiday for those who love to run, scream and hide, although leaving the hotel isn’t advised (mainly because you won’t be able to). We’d also recommend not eating the local cuisine, unless human flesh is your thing.

City break: Liberty City from Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (review coming soon)

If a full-on adventure holiday isn’t your thing, then maybe a nice city break is more up your street. In Liberty City you can while away the days with interesting activities such as jacking cars, mingling with the local drug gangs and killing people on street for no reason whatsoever. You can even come home with a lovely souvenir: a nice big collection of shiny firearms.

Winter sun: Winterhold from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Winter sun holidays are a very fashionable thing to do nowadays and Winterhold’s snowy mountains are the perfect destination. Unfortunately however, no skiing takes place here as the hills are far too treacherous. But grab your camera as there is ample opportunity to snap the local wildlife; just don’t get too close to the blood-thirsty frost trolls because they can give you nasty little nip.

Beach holiday: the islands from From Dust

Finally, a beach holiday, but this one isn’t your average break away. You’ll be getting very close to nature and really feeling the elements. Why stay in just one hotel when you can see the sights of the islands and move several times a day? But we recommend that you don’t leave anything behind; it’ll probably have been washed away by one of the frequent tsunamis by the time you go back for it unless the locals know that ‘repel water’ chant.

After the destinations we’ve recommended, the 1001-Up.com travel agents probably won’t be asking for your feedback upon your return. That’s if you make it back at all.
